Do You Have Your Resolutions Ready?

It’s time for those New Year’s Resolutions again.  Figuring out these fitness goals can be challenging to put into action.  We want you to be determined in making your exercising regime become a yearlong commitment.  Statistics have shown that at least 90% of us have great intentions for the New Year.  However, the thought of actually having to diet and change the way we eat makes us become discouraged.

How can you make your 2016 New Year’s Resolutions stick this year?  As an alternative to “exercising more,” try a goal of “exercising regularly” to keep you more committed.  Also, have you thought about making mini-resolutions rather than trying to take on too much by choosing an intimidating unrealistic resolution?   Make your resolutions smaller and more tangible so that you will stay motivated.  It will also increase your odds of being successful too!

The easiest solution to keeping your goals is to find support.  Individuals are definitely more likely to stick with their fitness routine if they have someone to support them.  Sometimes motivation, accountability, and support from a spouse or a close friend are all you need to keep you committed to changing your fitness life forever.  Having this support will help make your ultimate goal of “exercising regularly” this year become an achievable reality.

Making New Year’s resolutions are a great way for each of us to touch base with ourselves and find ways to make healthier improvements.  Don’t stress about these resolutions!  Remember, make them realistic, keep things positive, stay motivated, and make them stick.  Here’s to YOU in 2016!  Hope it’s a great one!

We all tend to choose these bad foods during the colder months. This also keeps us from coming to the gym and maintaining our other physical activities. But this does NOT have to happen this year! You CAN do this! We must eat sensibly and continue to factor in exercise to our daily routines. It is STILL possible to indulge in some holiday treats without gaining all of those extra pounds.

Try these tips to beat the buldge….

  • Do NOT skip exercise
  • Keep track of everything you eat
  • Stay hydrated
  • Do NOT go to parties/dinners hungry
  • Portion control

 

Tips for Reaching Your Resolutions Quickly

Here are a few tips that can help you reach your goals and resolutions a little quicker!

1. SCHEDULE YOUR WORKOUTS: Schedule your workouts like you would schedule business meetings or other important events. This helps make your workouts a priority! We think better, move better, and are overall happier when we are consistent with our workouts. Remember: we have to take better care of ourselves before we are any good to anyone else!!

2. ACCOUNTABILITY: Dr. John Berardi states that it is not enough to just read about becoming more fit and healthy. We must find SOMEONE TO HOLD US ACCOUNTABLE! Find that workout partner that will hold you accountable and you do the same for them.

It’s NOW or NEVER!

Did you know that water is perhaps the single most important means for actively losing weight and keeping it off?

Recent studies have shown that more fat deposits will appear when individuals drink less amounts of water.  The opposite can also occur – drinking more water can decrease the amount of fat deposits.

Water helps flush away waste from the body and also assists in eliminating constipation.  Water is beneficial to our bodies and our health.  Drink at least 6-8 eight ounce glasses of water per day!

The Weight of the Holidays Coming Soon

The Holidays are upon us and with them comes all the parties, less time to work out at the gym, and hectic schedules that can often leave us exhausted!  All the holiday “cheer” can leave us with 1-10 extra pounds and little to be cheerful about, especially when many of us don’t manage to get rid of it after the New Year!  Each year we tend to gain a few more pounds on our body that is unwanted and certainly not needed. 

Let’s try and make this Christmas and New Year’s different!  Instead of each of us filling out our holiday sweaters like Santa, let’s set some goals and try not over indulge.  Consider this to be a “holiday maintenance” strategy, not a “weight loss” strategy.  This is a simple yet challenging way for each of us to help balance and maintain our overall health.

Yes, it still means we need hit the gym and work out – even during the holidays.  But it’s very doable, right?!  Absolutely!  Don’t want to try this strategy alone?  Need help being accountable for sticking with your “holiday maintenance” strategy?  Ask your spouse to do this with you.  Find a co-worker or a friend.  Find whoever you need to get you through the holidays feeling and looking great for the New Year!  You will be glad you took on the challenge.  Show your friends, relatives and neighbors that you are dedicated to living a healthier lifestyle!
